#i really gotta say something but this is the MOST progressive form of gay rep. in tv. list me the muslim/middle eastern gays on tv rn  #none! non existent because gay rep is dominated by white gay relationships and you cant’ even deny that.   #white gay rep. is significant in itself but this ships existence in particular has elements of importance throughout  #it’s not just about gay rep  it’s about middle eastern/ muslim men being depicted in a way that is the opposite of stereotypes  #inflicted upon them by western media/views. MENA/muslim’s are so often labeled as aggressive/abuses/terrorists #( films/shows esp. hardly ever have roles that stray from that ) and then this show makes them the opposite of that  #they’re so soft ( that hand caress alone is the softest ) and so loving and so damn breathtaking the air from my lungs?? snatched right UP!  #and not just in the way that they’re physically affectionate but the conversation they have ( so brutally real so important )    #and how they identify/relate to the same level of struggles being immigrants      #through that there’s a connection formed a deep understanding of not only their situation but eachother and it’s just so good  #like the sex scene was the def. of POETIC CINEMA but the convo. was just as if it not better than that scene tbh.  #and in terms of the significance of this gay rep? MENA/muslims gays are shamed for being so and we’re often having to conform  #to the standards/expecs. of our culture/religion and in that having to live in secret of our identity because it’s not as acceptable in our  #culture as it is in western ones so to have this? to have them represent us/other gays of colour #so openly/so beautifully is everything.  #( and all in just one episode! wow ) (via @alienrumi)​
